The most common complaint I hear from my patients is their difficulty hearing in noisy restaurants. “How can I enjoy friends/family if I can’t hear them in all the noise?”
There’s really two issues: the noise levels and the difficult communication impacting how you socialize. Noise is the second most common complaint of diners (second only to poor service). In a recent study, family-style restaurants were quieter than bar settings. The elegant, upscale restaurants were the quietest. Let me know what restaurants you hear best in and send a posting about a great restaurant hearing experience. I will spread the word! This will get the attention of restaurant owners when we patronize the quieter restaurants and send more customers that want to hear while they eat!
Amazing blog site, keep myself through looking it, I am really interested to understand another recommendation of it.
I have found Il Palio Restaurante in Chapel Hill to be quiet. I can converse with my wife at dinner and enjoy being able to talk when going out to eat. Good food and quiet for conversation!
I tell my husband that it’s not worth it to go out to eat – I can’t hear what he’s saying and then we get annoyed with each other.
I know just what you mean! The restaurants are noisy but a conversation is impossible. I can’t imagine what it is like for someone who has hearing challenges.
I am so frustrated with not being able to take my parents out to celebrate their birthdays. They live in Chapel Hill and can’t hear well, so they don’t enjoy the “celebration”. They even tell me they don’t want to go out to eat because they can’t have a conversation inside the restaurant. I would love to find a restaurant to take them to so we can hear each other and can enjoy good conversations in Chapel Hill. Any suggestions?
