MAYBE IT’S HEARING NOT DEMENTIA

Maybe it’s hearing and not dementia.  Sometimes things are not what they appear to be.

Someone you know is having trouble remembering new things or appointments.  A family member has become more irritable or disagreeable lately. Maybe your friend isn’t “sociable” anymore and finds excuses to not get together.  What do these scenarios have in common?

We presume other reasons for changes in behavior – depression, slowing down mentally or even early dementia.  The last thing we think about is that maybe it’s their hearing . . .

Hearing issues can easily be mistaken for early dementia. They have similar characteristics and can mimic each other.  But hearing is rarely considered.

Did you realize that hearing and early dementia can show similar characteristics?  If you recognize any of these characteristics in someone you know – make sure to check their hearing first so they are not misdiagnosed.  Take this quick quiz to find out here.
